We know typical parties don’t always work for every child. That’s why we create joyful, sensory-considerate celebrations that help families relax and children feel happy… exactly as they are.

We created Peaceful Parties because we know first-hand how stressful and lonely party planning can feel when your child has sensory or additional needs. We’ve been there… worrying about meltdowns, overwhelm and awkward explanations. We believe every child deserves to celebrate in a way that feels safe and joyful, and every parent deserves to feel seen and supported. We fully understand that not having an unknown party entertainer running a celebration is often a big plus, but that can put a lot of pressure on you to get it right. That’s where we come in! We plan every last detail and walk you through the logistics of the day with our Happy Hosting Guide. This allows for your child’s party to be hosted by someone they already love and trust - no party-hosting experience needed!

About us...

Katie & Anna - We’re two neurodiverse mums raising neurodivergent kids, so we know firsthand how overwhelming traditional kids’ parties can be. We’ve been there – watching our own children struggle with the noise, the chaos and the sensory overload that so often comes with birthday celebrations.

With so many children (and parents!) having sensory needs, we wanted to create a different kind of party experience – one that’s fun, inclusive, and, most importantly, calm. Peaceful Parties is all about celebrating in a way that feels good for every child, with carefully designed party packages that prioritise comfort, flexibility and joy.

Social Stories are a powerful tool to help prepare children for an event like our Peaceful Parties by providing them with a clear, structured breakdown of what to expect. You will receive a bespoke Social Story for your party that will help your child understand what the party will look like, what to do if they feel overwhelmed, how to interact, and that participation is encouraged at their own pace.

We also provide visual timetables, which offer a clear, step-by-step outline of the party’s structure using simple words and images. These support predictability and reduce anxiety by helping children know what’s happening now and what’s coming next.

SensorySpaces

We support unique sensory needs at each party. We listen to you to find out what support your child needs most.

For Bath & North East Somerset events, our Sensory Den provides a calm, softly lit retreat where children can step away from overwhelm and rejoin when they feel ready.

Our UK-wide Party Kits include sensory-friendly tools and a simple guide to help you create your own cosy calm space using soft furnishings you already have at home, so every celebration can feel safe, supported and inclusive.

Special Interests

We celebrate children’s special interests and build parties around what they love most.

We find out from you what the themes are that your child loves. Our parties are the designed to honour deep passions that neurodivergent children often have, helping children feel seen, confident and excited to share their joy with friends.

Each Party Package includes activities, visuals and crafts centred around their chosen interest, turning it into a celebration that feels meaningful, engaging and truly theirs.

As Neurodiversity Celebration Week comes to an end, we’re so proud to share Pinky Panda’s Peaceful Party - A Tale of Inclusion and Sensory-Friendly Fun.

This story was created to open up conversations, build understanding, and gently remind us all that there is no one “right” way to enjoy a celebration or indeed experience the world.

Thursday afternoon felt like a perfect reflection of this message. We hosted our children’s primary school’s very first Recharge Club, and it was a truly fantastic experience. Children joined us who had previously never felt able to attend a club - and they not only came, they stayed, they engaged, and they shone.

It was creative, fun, welcoming and most importantly, it was a safe space to be yourself. Working alongside the school to create inclusive, nurturing spaces like this means so much to us. Awareness is important— but creating real opportunities for children to feel seen, understood and celebrated is where the magic really happens. This is at the heart of everything we do at Peaceful Parties. We build a party kit around your child’s special interest and in doing so help children feel seen, confident and excited to share their joy with friends.

I watched a little boy in a martial arts class being told to “sit still” over and over again.

But his body wasn’t being naughty.

A small moment that changed how I think about sensory differences.

My daughter kept telling me a room smelled strongly of onions. I couldn’t smell anything at all, so I brushed it off. Later, I found a tiny piece of onion peel stuck to my sock and realised her sensory experience was genuinely different to mine.

We’re taught there are five senses, but there are actually a lot more and they feed information into the body. Some children feel the world more intensely through smell, movement, body awareness, or internal signals, and that information is real for them.

When behaviour doesn’t make sense, sensory differences often help it make sense.

Birthday parties can be exciting… and also A LOT.
If your child covers their ears, freezes, tries to hide, refuses party food, or gets upset when someone bumps them… it could be helpful to think "behaviour is communication".

We saw a post this week from @susiejverrill & @gregjrutherford that really stayed with us.

They shared how one of their children prefers to be in a certain room rather than the main hosting space, and how instead of expecting them to cope in a busy, sociable space, they adapted the environment. A different room, Christmas lights, a tree, and suddenly that calmer space felt just as special.

It reminded us how often children don’t need to change. We do.

This year, we put our tree up late after a really busy time of having building work done. Everyone was tired and a bit overwhelmed. One of our children finds self-regulation hard, and music helps her feel settled. Right now, that music is Wicked.

So instead of our usual Christmas songs, we played the Wicked soundtrack while we decorated. They checked in and asked, “Is this still Christmassy? Is it OK?”

And we said yes. Of course it was.

With familiar music, no pressure to do things the usual way, and space to do Christmas differently, we could stay present and enjoy the moment.

This is what Peaceful Parties is about for us.
Not making children fit celebrations, but letting celebrations be flexible around children.

It was the school disco last night! Both Katie & I have had a few years of not going to the disco - for lots of kids it's too much.

Now we support the school by creating a space where kids who are finding the disco too much, can find some calm. A quiet corner with sensory tools to help kids regulate. We also had crafts for kids to stay and join in with, if they needed more time.

So many kids came to the space, used our sensory stepping stones, rearranged, squished and cuddled the cushions and blankets, played with fidgets and then joined us for calm crafts.

We have been told that some kids only came to the disco because they knew there was a space like this to access.

The head teacher said "it was wonderful to see our children having a quiet, calm and inclusive space for them to enjoy themselves".

Spoon Theory: The simple way we explain invisible exhaustion.

If you or your child live with sensory needs, anxiety, or are neurodivergent, you may already know about Spoon Theory. It's a helpful way of explaining how much energy certain tasks take.

For some children, a party with lots of people will use up ALL the spoons before the cake is even cut. 🎂

Each spoon = a bit of energy.

You wake up with a certain number of spoons.
🚿 Getting dressed? That’s a spoon.
🚗 Going to school? That’s a few spoons.
🏊 Swim lessons after school... ok maybe swim lessons take parents spoons!

For children with sensory needs, anxiety, or who are neurodivergent, activities that feel “easy” for others, take SO many spoons.
